NEW YEARS EVE PARTY
FROM THE DESK OF POST COMMANDER
Comrades we are finally underway with our remodeling of the Post. see link to construction photos.
Our contractor is Lars Southwest Construction, owned by Fred Pettersen, who is also our General Contractor. We will be remodeling our Post in three Phases. In our agreement with the city of Glendale we have eighteen (18) months to complete our additional parking lot, fences, landscaping and etc. This is happening now as you read this newsletter. The second Phase will be the Post itself, Patio with new concrete slab the length of building and also a Patio cover so everyone that wants to sit outside can and enjoy the nice weather.
We will be remodeling the restrooms which are needed big time. The Canteen will be enlarged with new bar cooler, higher ceilings, insulation, floors and etc. So come in and watch the new changes develop.
Before I close, don’t forget to get your 2009 dues paid by the end of the year, because it is just around the corner. Check your calendar for up coming events with the holidays coming up. Hope to see everyone at the Post.
YOURS IN COMRADESHIP
PAT CARTER
POST COMMANDER
2007-2009FROM THE DESK OF THE SENIOR VICE COMMANDER
Comrades;
First I would like to thank everyone for the cards I received in the hospital and those of you who stopped by to visit. The next couple of months will be busy, Thanksgiving, golf outing, and Children’s Christmas party. Hopefully every one will be able to contribute to one of these programs for the community. Speaking of the Children’s Christmas party, the golf outing slated to happen on December 6, 2008 is the fund raiser for this event. (See information in newsletter.). Also we have finally updated the roster; thus if you have not received your newsletter please give me a call so I can insure we get your address in. Speaking of the newsletter, thanks to Roy Burris, the newsletter will be on our web site: https://vfwpost1433.org/. After this issue your newsletter will no longer be mailed unless you notify us that you do not have access to a computer. If not, please drop a letter stating such and verify your correct mailing address. Now that we have completed the sale of our excess property, I’m hoping that new programs will be instituted and more time spent in this direction (helping fellow veterans, community and Post family outings etc.
Please give me a call if you have any issues with the post or ideas you would like to see us run or sponsor.
Respectfully
Dan Muller
Sr. Vice CommanderFROM THE DESK OF THE JUNIOR VICE COMMANDER

FROM THE DESK OF THE LADIES AUXILIARY PRESIDENT
Greeting Sisters,
Reminder, our general membership meetings are the SECOND WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH AT 6:00 P.M. We are very pleased to see more sisters attending the meetings, thank you.
We have many events scheduled. Our children’s Christmas Party will be held on December 20th at 10:00 AM. Please register your children/grandchildren. We will purchase gifts appropriate for age and gender for each registered child. Santa will also visit. We are asking each attendee to bring a donation for our deployed soldiers box if possible. This however is not a requirement.
Please read the front of this newsletter for additional events. We continue to have dinner and karaoke on Friday nights. This is a great time, please join us.
Please remember to report activities for Community Service, visits to the homebound, delivering meals, clothes donations, any donations for veterans, blood and plasma donations etc. If you are not sure go ahead and report it. This way any possible activities will not be overlooked.
The Library of Congress has begun their Veterans History Project. The project collects and preserves personal stories and other documents from America’s war veterans and American civilians who served to support them. More information is available on line at www.loc.gov/vets.
If you have not yet paid your dues for 2009, please be sure to do so. Also please save your Campbell soup labels for the National Home.
We are looking forward to seeing you at our next meeting. Remember, we’re all in this together.
