FROM THE DESK OF THE POST
COMMANDER
Lots of things have been
happening at the Post. As many of you
know Commander Pat Carter has been relieved and the Senior Vice appointed. If any member would like to know more
information or have questions regarding this change, please contact me. Otherwise this issue will not be discussed in
this letter. Hopefully the Post will
continue to be successful and projects previously planned will be
continued. We need your support for
upcoming events such as the Children’s Easter Egg Hunt, input on construction
of the Post at the General meeting and events you would like to see run.
On April 18th,
2009, we are having a Membership Appreciation Steak Dinner; so mark this on
your calendar and stop in. We are
planning on having lots of fun and meeting those of you who we haven’t seen in
awhile. I won’t say much regarding this
since our Senior Vice will be including this is his letter to the Post Members.
As stated many times in
the past, the Post can only be as successful as the membership and its
input. Hopefully the changes that
happened will move smoothly with no hard feelings. Hope to see you at the upcoming events and if
you have any ideas that will help make this a better Post, please contact me or
stop in. Remember the Commander is here
to insure the wishes of the members are carried out.
Yours in Comradeship,
Daniel Muller
Commander
FROM THE DESK OF THE SENIOR VICE
COMMANDER
Comrades, currently we are
at 917 paid members, which is 92% of our last year’s membership total. Every new member that joins brings with them
new ideas and new stories to tell. The
new members that have joined in the past few months have conveyed to me how
much they enjoy the comradeship at the Post. Let’s all work together to bring
in new members and invite past and current members back in to see the
improvements currently underway.
On Saturday April 18th we
will be having a Membership Appreciation Steak Dinner. At this time we would like to honor our long
time members with a VFW 5-year increment Continuous
Membership Lapel Emblem. The VFW only gives us the dates of Life Members. Our
longest Life Member on record is Mr. John Kissling of
Wear
these pins proudly during the week of the VFW 110th National Convention held

FROM THE DESK OF THE JUNIOR VICE COMMANDER
We have plenty
of things going on over the next couple of months, so please come and join us
for the festivities.
Two weekly
events going throughout each month are Friday Night Dinner and Karaoke and
Saturday musical entertainment. The
meals are 5-7 dollars donation, depending on the meal, and start at 6pm. Singing starts at 7 and is free to all!! On Saturdays at 3pm we have weekly
entertainment, which is a Disc Jockey, a one man band and/or others to delight
the crowds.
On March 7th
and April 4th we will have our Post BBQ at 2pm.
The post will cook Chicken, ribs and other meat items that can be
donated. Donations of meat items can be
dropped off at the Canteen on the day before or brought to the Post by Noon on
the day of the BBQ. We will have pot
luck for the side-dishes.
Saint
Patrick’s Day is March 17th and the Post will be having Corn Beef
and Cabbage at 4pm and happy hour beer all day so dress green, grab your 4 leaf
clovers and come on down.
The Post will
be having our annual Easter egg hunt on Sunday April 5th at 10am at
the
We are having
Member Appreciation Day Steak Fry April 18th from 3pm to 7pm. This is free for all Post and Auxiliary 1433
members so bring your card and come down and have dinner on us. There have been a lot of changes to the Post
and this would be a great time to come down and check it out.
Yours in
Comradeship,

FROM THE DESK OF THE QUARTERMASTER
At last another two months have passed in
this year as Quartermaster. The Post is
doing well. We are finishing projects on
schedule and starting new ones as we speak.
The exterior of the Post has been given its first coat of mud (stucco)
and the new Cool Box is being installed this week. If you have not been here in awhile, come on
in and see the new improvements to the Post.
The financial end of the Post is now doing great.
Yours in Comradeship,
James Stark
Quartermaster
FROM THE DESK OF THE LADIES
AUXILIARY PRESIDENT
Greetings Sisters,
For those of you who have
been unable to attend meetings, I will bring you up to date. At the January
meeting we received a resignation letter from our Secretary Maryann Bannon. I
must mention Maryann has a very busy schedule with her full time work, studies
and home responsibilities. I want to thank Maryann for all her wonderful work.
With all her time restraints she stepped up to the plate, and in my opinion hit
a home run with learning her duties and performing a superb job. Thank you so
much Maryann; we hope to see you soon and wish you the best. Fortunately we
were able to fill the position immediately. Tanya Marmon has accepted the
appointment of Secretary and was installed at the February meeting; thank you
Tanya. At the February meeting we received the resignation of First Vice Lily
Carter. Since we have only a few
meetings remaining in our fiscal year, we will pro-tem this position for the
remainder of the year.
We will be having an
Easter Egg Hunt for the children the Sunday before Easter. Please refer to the
article below for further details.
I know I mentioned this
before; however, I feel a need to reiterate. How many of you attended our
meeting in October of 2007 when the State came to pull our Charter because our
officers had resigned and no one was willing to take an office? Now, how many
of you have attended even one meeting since? Again, we have a large membership,
yet only 10 –16 people are attending our meetings. Please be involved in your
Auxiliary; we need you. If you cannot attend a meeting please check with the
officers for other needs. Friday night
dinner? Help with special events? Poppy sales? Visiting schools? Legislative
work? We have many duties and would love your participation, thank you.
I will not be running for
our President position for the 2009-2010 fiscal year. As with many of our
officers I am still working full time. In addition to this, I was appointed in
January by Governor Napolitano to serve on the board for the Governors’
Advisory Council on Aging. This is a chance for me to speak up for our
geriatric population, which for me is very exciting. Unfortunately it will be
time consuming. It is now time for one of you ladies to serve as president. I
will help in any way possible, please consider.
We now have a canister in
the canteen to collect
Our membership is
currently at 91%. Please renew your
membership if you have not yet done so!
God Bless You,
Noreen (Nicki)

EASTER EGG HUNT ON PALM SUNDAY
The Easter Egg Hunt will
be held at the Park to the North of the Post on Sunday, April 5th. No
sign up is required, but it
is important that all children be at the Park a few minutes before 10 am. The younger children will be “released”
promptly at 10; the older children will be allowed to join the hunt a few
minutes later.
We will be stuffing the
eggs and getting prizes together on Saturday, April 4th during the
Post Barbeque which starts at 2 pm.
Everyone is invited to help with this.
Donations of plastic eggs, candy (nothing that will melt, though), boxed
drinks and larger prizes will be greatly appreciated. We are also requesting volunteers to be at
the Park by 9 am on Sunday morning to help with hiding the eggs.
After the eggs have all
been found, everyone is invited to the Post for food.
Let your friends and
neighbors know about this in case they want to participate!

MILITARY ORDER OF THE COOTIES
LISTEN COOTIES,
By the time you receive this newsletter
our Grand Homecoming for our Grand Commander Fred Stilt and our Grand President
Teresa Biasi, will be over. For those of
you who attended, my hats off to you for your continued support of our Pup Tent
and Auxiliary.
An upcoming event is our election in
May. Now is the time for all of you
Cooties to decide if you want to hold a position in the Pup Tent. All of the seats are open to each and every
one of you.
The Pup Tent can only succeed if we have
good leadership and support from all our Comrades in this Pup Tent. For the Past three (3) years I had the
privilege to be the Seam Squirrel. I
assure you I could not have done it without everyone’s support.
And that support has not gone unnoticed….
I thank each and every one of you who
stepped up to assist when asked. It has
been a real honor for me to serve as your leader. There is still a great deal of work ahead for
all of us and your continued support is greatly needed. I assure you if you choose a new leader; I
will support him or her as I have been supported.
Always remember our creed “A Cootie is
closer than a brother and that’s what keeps us together”.
We have our Supreme Convention coming up
real soon here in
As always “Keep them smiling in beds of
white”.

AUXILIARY #14 PRESIDENT
We have had a busy two months in the MOC Auxiliary. We provided a
baby basket in January for a girl, raised some money with our Friday night once
a month dinners, visited the State Veterans Home, attended the Tucson VA
Hospital Steak Fry and prepared for the Homecoming that was held on Feb
21. We look forward to the events for March and April.
Thanks to all who helped with anything that was asked of them and
those who will help in the future. Remember, "Keep them smiling in beds of
white".
Respectfully,

FROM THE DESK OF THE MOCA GRAND
PRESIDENT
I want to thank everyone
at the Post, the Cooties, the Men’s Auxiliary, the Ladies Auxiliary and the
Cooties Auxiliary who helped to make my Homecoming such a success. We had good attendance from all over the
State and it seemed that everyone had a great time! You all made me very proud to be a part of
this Post!
The Friday night dinner
hosted by the Ladies Auxiliary was awesome!
The Post provided the food for breakfast and lunch on Saturday, and the
Council of Administration on Saturday went smoothly. The Men’s Auxiliary hosted the Homecoming
Banquet and did a fantastic job.
Cooties Auxiliary #14 planned my “roasting” and decorated the hall. And several of you jumped in and helped with
cleanup and setting the tables back up for Bingo. Almost everything went like clockwork, and
that was the result of “everyone working together”! It would not have happened this way
otherwise!
A lot of time and energy
went into making the weekend one I will always treasure. I am so honored to have all of you in my
life! Thank you again for your love and
support.
Our Grand Convention will
be held the weekend of May 29th and 30th, either here in
