FROM THE DESK OF THE JUDGE ADVOCATE
My Dear Comrades: As your Judge Advocate, I cannot emphasize enough the importance of your participation in our Post Meetings and in all matters concerning your Post. For example, this past September (while our Commander was away) an individual attending a General Membership Meeting made a motion to give a certain Motorcycle Club Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000) from our General fund. All this was proposed during a time when our Post was having severe financial problems.
When our Commander returned, our By-Laws were consulted and the matter was referred back to the Finance and Planning Committee. This was done because the expenditure exceeded $2,500 and there were not additional proposals. The Finance and Planning Committee found the $20,000 to be excessive and voted not to expend this amount. Unfortunately the members who originally had this epiphany persisted in trying to override the Finance and Planning Committee. On the 10th of December they brought it back up for a vote where it passed by a narrow margin. Had more members showed up to counter the interests of the few who wanted to give our money away to a Motorcycle Club, we would not have squandered $20,000. There were also members who felt that the facts surrounding the justification for the extravagance had not been accurately represented. Remember it's always easy to spend money when it's not yours.
We have been working with our Attorney and one of our very dedicated and experienced Trustees, to ensure a reasonable portion of our funds will be put into a Trust to ensure this type of misuse of Post funds cannot occur again. It will also be designed to ensure there is some reasonable financial growth so that this Post is here for generations to come.
I encourage all of you to come and participate in the parliamentary process of our meetings and to help the conscientious members by joining forces with them. Also as our election year approaches, please be mindful of voting for those who have the interests of our Post and the VFW at heart, rather than for those who are more concerned about non VFW entities.
Very Respectfully, Yours in Comradeship
Melvin Blood, Judge Advocate
FROM THE DESK OF THE POST COMMANDER
It's been a very busy two months. Between the Holidays and the construction at the Post. I can hardly catch my breath.
For everyone's information we had our Voice of Democracy, Patriots Pen and Teacher of the year awards. At the District Three awards our Post took two awards in V.O.D. First and fourth and also Teacher of the Year. They all did a great job!!! Congratulations to all of them.
For everyone's information our Post Kitchen is open now, for some great eats. Their hours of operation for breakfast, lunch and dinner are Sunday thru Thursday 10 AM to 8 PM. Except Friday 8 PM to 3 PM. Come in and check out their Menu; it is very good.
All of our last Post functions have had great participation. We had our First Chili Cook-Off, and the annual Thanksgiving Dinner, Adult Christmas Party and Children's Christmas Party all were a success.
To all our members come in and see the changes to our Post. You will be amazed what's been done, parking lot, Patio, Canteen and new men's restroom and more is to come.
In Closing check your calendars for up-coming events and if you haven't paid your membership, please do so; or if your friends haven't, remind them. And if you have friends that can become members, get them to join.
Best wishes for the Holidays
Yours in Comradeship.
Patrick Carter
Post Commander
Please note that the Canteen will not open until 1 PM on Saturday, February 21st due to the Military Order of the Cooties Council of Administration scheduled for that morning.
FROM THE DESK OF THE POST QUARTERMASTER
Belated Best Holiday wishes to all our members and their families. Well another year has passed and onto 2009 we go. The Post has had many changes in the past few months and all for the better. Since you are a member of our Post, please take the time and come in and see what has been done to your Post building. The Post is now out of the red financially and hopes to stay there for many years to come.
Yours in Comradeship
James Stark
Quartermaster
FROM THE DESK OF SENIOR VICE COMMANDER
By the time you have received this the holidays will be over. I hope everyone had a great Christmas and Happy New Year. I want to remind everyone dues are up, thus if you have not paid, please do so. Also the club is being remolded so if you haven't been down stop in and you will be surprised, but remember it's not complete yet.
With the New Year coming around I'm looking for ideas so that we can have a great New Year. The Post can't succeed without your input; also hopefully we will see you at the regular Post meeting held each month on the second Wednesday of the month.
Again a belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Respectfully
Dan Muller
Senior Vice Commander
FROM THE DESK OF THE JUNIOR VICE COMMANDER
Happy New Year! Here are some of the activities going on for the next two months:
Two weekly events going through each month are: The Friday Night Dinners and Karaoke; the meals are between five and seven dollars donation. Meals start at 6 PM and the singing starts at 7 PM. Then on Saturdays at 3 PM we have entertainment: Disc Jockey, one man band and/or others.
On January 3rd and February 7th we have our post BBQ at 2 PM, the Post kitchen will be having pork ribs, ¼ chickens, steaks, or other entrees for a six dollar charge.
Starting Tuesday January 6th the kitchen will be having a dinner meal in addition to their normal menu, so give the cook the night off and come down to the post for dinner. Price for the dinner is $6.95. The first meal will be a steak dinner to kick things off right.
For all you football fans the Canteen and the kitchen is open on Sundays, so why fight the crowds and pay the high prices of a sports bar when you have earned the right to come here and drink and eat at a reasonable price (the company is better too). Look forward to seeing you on play-off days and of course the Super Bowl.
On Valentines Day we will have dinner and entertainment. So bring your sweetheart and come on down.
The Post has been doing some modification and upgrades to the building and parking lot, and we will be rededicating the Post sometime in the near future so look forward to the announcement and stop by to celebrate our Post.
Yours in Comradeship,
Junior vice Commander Bob Duncan
FROM THE DESK OF THE LADIES AUXILIARY PRESIDENT
Greeting sisters,
Our children's Christmas party was a great success. This was only possible with joint effort between the Post, Ladies Auxiliary and Men's Auxiliary. The children enjoyed cookies, crafts, outside jumping equipment, cotton candy, pizza and of course, the big finish--a visit from Santa Claus. Thank you all for the wonderful teamwork.
We are looking forward to more great events in 2009. Please attend our meetings and read the newsletter for information.
May you all have a Blessed Holiday Season and Safe, Healthy and Happy New Year.
Bless You,
Noreen (Nicki) Nickerson-Cruz
FROM THE SEAM SQUIRREL PUP TENT 14 WILDE E. COYOTE
The last two months have been busy ones for our Pup Tent. We had an increase in our membership, degree updates, hospital visits and Post functions. And now that the year comes to a close, we are in the mist of aiding our VFW comrades with the children's party and shuffling our busy schedules around the ongoing construction of our beloved Post 1433.
Our future functions are still once a month MOC Friday night Dinner, which is our main fundraiser.
We will be having a few items to raffle at our C of A coming up on February 21st, 2009. We will be honored by our Grand Seam Squirrel Fred Slit and our own MOCA Grand President Teresa Biasi.
All of the arrangements have been made and we are looking for a good time to be had by all that attend. We hope to see all our Cooties and Cuties there.
As always we above all else remember we are VFW members first and Cooties second. So, please remember to support our Post functions also. In retrospect I want to wish each and every one of you a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
And remember "Always keep them smiling in beds of White".

FROM THE DESK OF THE MOCA PRESIDENT
Thanks to all for supporting our monthly first Friday night dinners and also thanks to our wonderful cooks.
We have had a busy two months and will continue to be busy into the coming year. We were able to send baby baskets to the VA hospital for a boy and a girl this month. Thank you to the shoppers.
Four of us visited the State Veterans Nursing Home in November and took 5 stars to get Christmas gifts for 5 veterans. They were purchased and delivered.
We have one new member: Welcome Tanya Marmon!
We have been preparing for the February 21st Homecoming for the Grand Commander Fred Stilt and Grand President, Teresa Biasi, our MOCA #14 Treasurer.
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and have a happy, healthy and prosperous 2009!
Respectfully,
Patti Mangano

NEWS
Hello all--I hope the New Year is going well for all Post members. I'd like to thank the Men's Auxiliary Senior Vice Glen Chavez for donating the gift basket and chocolate bars for our Christmas raffle. The Men's Auxiliary is very thankful to all the people who bought tickets and made it a success. I'd also like to thank all of our guys who showed up to help with Thanksgiving preparations.
Personally I'd like to say that 2008 was my first year as a member of the Post. I wasn't sure what to expect when I joined, and it was nice to meet such a selfless group of people as our members. Many of you have went out of your way to make me feel welcome and to recognize our groups activities- I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Brett Morfitt,
Men's Auxiliary President
